Practical Knife Defense

Practical Knife Defense

The Defensive Blade is a knife self defense developed with the goal of surviving and escaping a violent attacker who is bigger and stronger. There are many knife systems that do this but we will also cover the psychological and emotional attacks involved, because in most cases it isn’t a stranger attacking you, it is someone known.

In this class we discuss the attacker/ victim psychology, how body language can betray intent, using the blade, footwork, and the environment to maintain distance, how to use and hold the blade, how to keep from being disarmed, and to what extent you are legally entitled to protect yourself.

All training equipment will be provided. Participants should wear full length workout pants or tights, and a long sleeve or rash guard shirt. Jewelry such as rings, bracelets, long necklaces, long earrings or other body piercings that risk getting tangled or caught, should not be worn.

This class is suggested for ages 13 and above and is welcoming to women, teens, and LBGTQ.

600 N Marienfeld is the Momentum Bank Building. Please enter through the lobby on the Michigan Ave side of the building. Parking is allowed in visitor section on weekends. Call or text if you have an issue finding it 432-701-7898.
