Matthew Day is a Lubbock-based oil industry historian and author. Matthew will discuss his book “Local Roots, Global Prospects.”
In the book, he uses brief sketches of significant oil discoveries in the South Plains and the Permian Basin to set up the story of George Livermore, a Lubbock oil driller who pursued several
oil prospects in the Mideast and in the Americas from World War II until his death in 1961.
