On Thursday, May 16th, from 5:30 to 7 pm, the Arts Council of Midland will present “Landscape in Flight” with a reception at 1506 West Illinois Avenue in Midland Texas, featuring the depth and complexity in the work of Austin, Texas artist David Mercado. The exhibit features twenty-two acrylic and oil pastel paintings. Refreshments will be served. The reception is free and open to the public. Please come as you are!

In the beginning, his imagery focused on the beauty, strength and movement of hummingbirds, a series that gained him national recognition by their popularity. David has progressed into an exciting bird and landscape series.

David works primarily in mixed media on wood and paper. Texas birds have been the focus of his latest works.

David is a self-taught artist with over 25 years of experience. He has exhibited his work in galleries and exhibitions across the country.

David looks forward to a busy spring and summer with upcoming exhibitions throughout Texas.
